What Is A Dental Implant?
A dental implant is used when a patient is missing a tooth or multiple teeth. Dental implants function and look exactly like a natural tooth. A dental implant is a great option for people who want a tooth replacement that is convenient and permanent.
A dental implant is made up of 3 different components:
- A Post
- An Abutment
- A Crown
The post is implanted into the cavity where the root of your tooth would be. Your gums will then heal around the post, making it part of your mouth. After your gums have healed, we attach the abutment. This will act as a joiner between the post and the crown. We then attach the crown to the abutment. A crown is a very realistic looking false tooth. We will match the crown to the rest of your teeth in size, shape, and color.
